WoRkplace Circular Workshop

In June, Re-Fabricate ran a workplace workshop for a large company.

The workshop was part of a corporate day around circular practices and was designed for employees to explore their creativity through building out of waste.

We have been advocating for "waste" reuse for a long time and it has been amazing to see people not used to handle tools, or DIY, become very confident and motivated to continue these practices in their own lives.

We arrived in true Re-Fabricate style, with a van full of reclaimed material, for which we have to thank the wonderful Remakery.
Materials included a whole suite of reclaimed and natural materials to experiment with and use to test their properties including cork, fabrics, wood, cords, upholstery foam and more. .

People were given a simple brief of:

  • Outcome: build something - at the scale of a planter

  • Divide up into groups

  • Take inspiration from the materials

  • Start designing

  • .. and building!
    (in 2 hours).
The results have been amazing and people left with a very big smile.

Re-Fabricate was helped by some wonderful collaborators on this project, including
Tom, of Flourish Design, Chris and Terri, makers and support staff at the fantastic Brightbox.

About 60 people participated to the workshop.
All were fantastically engaged and eager to build their own piece of furniture. The output was great and donated to a local charity.
