circular retrofit workshop
In June, Re-Fabricate ran a weekend of circular retrofit workshops at The Remakery, Brixton under the LFA 2022 theme ‘Act’.
We have been advocating for "waste" reuse for a long time and this time we deemed it important to integrate retrofit in the conversation.
Why is retrofit important? The UK’s thermally leaky housing stock accounts for 21% of our carbon emissions. With fuel bills rising and climate breakdown proceeding at an incredible pace towards us, it is vital that we insulate our homes and buildings to make them warmer, healthier and futureproof for years to come.
Divided over two-days, the circular retrofit workshop introduced retrofit as a growing architectural sector which offers an opportunity to rethink how we treat our construction waste and implement new ways of material reuse.
